Wednesday June 3
Jayne and I went to Murry Hill to buy a electrical cord for my camera. This way, I'll be able to use it from the house current if I need to.
When we got to the store they didn't have it and they would have to order, which would take 28 days. Instead I bought an extra battery which cost 26 pounds. The power cord would have cost me 65 pounds. I really don't need it that bad, so I did without.
There were other things we bought that we needed from the mall, including some more summer clothes. Then I had to change some euros to pounds. We went into Lloyd's Bank and I gave the teller the money. She said they can't change 100 euro notes. I said why not and she said because there were a lot of counterfiets. I told her I got this from Lloyd's Bank in Ecuador. She said this is bank policy. I asked her if they give out 100 euro bills and she said yes (they get them in packets), and they give them out. I said, don't you see the wrong in this, that you give them out but you don't take them in, and she said yes. But there was nothing she could do as this is policy.
The teller told me that I could try at a travel agency or the post office.
I told her that I got the bills from Lloyd's Bank in Ecuador.
Well, we did go to Thomas Cook travel agency and the girl there said the same thing!
I thought this is so stupid. They can use the same method of checking the other bills as they can on 100, 200 or 500 euro notes. There could be 50 euro bills that are fake, too.
Now, I have to find a way to get rid of the bills, though they are geniune. I only have two of them, but I have change them. I hope I don't have a problem in Spain or Cyprus.
Another stupid thing is, if there are good fakes, why don't the banks take the person's ID info and have the serial number down on the paper so if there is any problem they know who to go to.
I wonder if the bank will take the notes if you have an account? She didn't tell this if they do. If my bank doesn't do this in Cyprus, then that means the bills are so good that they can't tell the difference. In fact, this must be the case now, otherwise they would use the UV light on it or test it with a certain marker that they use.
I just wonder if the EU is making anything larger than 50 euros?
We also stoped at a mobile phone shop so Jayne can get Internet on her phone. This way I'll be able to use it to check my email when in Wales. I also had to buy a cord to connect the phone to my computer. However, you can use the Internet without a computer.

Bought a Digital Camera
Monday June 1
Jayne and I went to Murry Hill by bus. She needs to go to bank and I need to buy a digital camera.
The ride cost us 4.60 pounds for both of us and it took about 40 minutes to go there.
When we first went there we stoped by a 'pound shop' where they sell everything for 1 pound. Then had a cup of coffee.
We were in many shops, and finally found a shop that had a good selection of digital cameras. It was hard to make a decision as I wanted a video camera, too. We decided to buy a good digital camera that takes video, too. It's not the best for videos but at least I can take them. The camera I bought is a Canon Power Shot SX200 IS. This cost 318 pounds with a 8GB memory stick (this was extra). It takes 12MB pixil photos. I can get 2,400 pictures or take 48 minutes of video. Natually, I will not keep all the photos on the memory stick as if the camera is lost or stolen there goes all the pictures.
Then we bought some summer clothes at a store that had low prices. This will be used when we are in Spain and Cyprus.
We never did get to the bank. I asked Jayne if she wanted to go to the bank as it was getting late and she said she'll go tomorrow and do the business in Kinniminster. She wanted to do all the shoping first. So, it looks like we'll be out tomorrow.
We got home about 5pm.
The ride by bus in a lot more than in Ecuador, but if we had to go to Quito we usually take a taxi. If we were in Quito the taxi is more than the bus fare plus we don't have to put up with all the smell we'd get from the buses that are ahead of us. Plus the bus drivers are better than any taxi driver in Ecuador.
At home, Jayne mentioned that we can take a ferry from Wales to Ireland - according to Lil. So, when we go this is what we will do. Now that I have a camera I hope to take some great pictures.
From Saturday until today the weather has been cloudless - its really beautiful. The temperature gets up to about 23C. Howeve, I thought the day was without even small clouds which normally form during the day. I wonder and I will not be surprised that this is weather modfication. After all, if they can make a day cloudy, or cloudy with chemtrails, they can or should be able to do the opposite.
In the evening I read the manual for the camera. I still have more reading to do.

Spiritualist Church
Sunday May 31
Lil made a Sunday dinner with lamb, carrots, peas, cauliflower and potatoes. I didn’t have lamb but I did have boiled eggs. Jayne said that when her mother cooks there is no room in the kitchen, so all she could make is eggs.
Then Val, Lil’s sister, came over in the afternoon. We ate about 2pm.
Jayne said that if I’d like to go I can come with them to the spiritual church that Lil and Val go to. I said yes. About 5.45pm Val came over to pick us up. The church is in Stourbridge which is about 5 miles from here.
This is my first time in such a church so I thought it would be interesting to see what they say.
We got there early and Jayne says they like to go early so they can get a parking spot.
The meeting started with a woman reading something from a spiritual booklet. Then we sang some religious songs. I noticed that one or two of them had something about spirits.
Then the speaker came on who is a medium and spiritualist. After some introductory words he suddenly broke out into telling messages that he got. He pointed to one woman who was sitting in front of us about her departed husband. Then he pointed to the woman who sat next to her. He used names and the women confirmed this.
This went on for about 30 minutes. Out of about 100 people there, he just talked to about 6-7 people. Then there was a song again and it was over. Afterwards there was tea, coffee and cakes in the adjacent room.
At first it was interesting as this was the first time that I heard a medium. I noticed the reaction of the people and apparently what he said was true. This was interesting. However, i got bored with it and even sleepy because all we heard was trival about others. Naturally, it’s interesting for those who were addressed the message but for the rest of the people it didn’t apply to them. Naturally, he didn’t have time to go to everyone and even if he did, it would have taken a couple of hours.
The guy, Geoffrey said that he does this because he wants to bring the message of health and better living to the people, or words to that effect. Afterwards I thought how strange, if this was the case why he didn’t bring the ‘nuts and bolts’ of how to have a better life!
Later, I reflected on what transpired and what Geoffrey had said about helping those to have a better life. I heard a lot more wisdom from the Jeff Rense program, for example, than what I heard tonight. I’ve also heard better advice from other websites, too.
For example, why didn’t he tell of how to stay healthy, how to get over any kind of disease, how to change your emotions to ones that make all you do better. What about the kind and type of government we should have the economic system that goes with it. What about what individuals can do to see themselves and their families through the economic Depression we are in?
I know what needs to be done to help people in nearly all areas of life. What Tony Robbins and others in his field teaches the tools you need to vastly improve your life. In fact, all of this can be learned without knowing or having one contact from the spirit world.
(The following is what I’ve heard in general about people who have contact with the spirit world.)
Yes, it’s nice to hear from someone you loved that departed, but all that is is a message that they are very happy where they are and nothing much more. The messages people get are not words of wisdom and the specific things that person or people in generally need to know. Yes, they talk about love and peace but not the specifics. The specifics you can learn from people who already were successful you can learn the specifics from the Bible and God’s laws about economics, government and how to live life.
By the way, the Bible was not used in this church or long quotes from Bible passages.
I will not be going back. At the most that I can learn is if I got a personal message or Jayne got one. But then if I did it would be something like, “I’m fine, do you remember when we went to...etc.”
We got home about 9pm.
When Val asked about my thoughts, I didn’t tell her everything that I wrote above but I did say how it got boring. She said people come to get confirmation of life after life. I said all I need is one and there is no need to listen to it over and over again. To this she had no comment.
If the people went to such websites as the following they would improve their life so much more. To name a few website:

Britain's Have Talent
Saturday May 30
Jayne and I took the bus to Shroubrough. We had to wait about an hour for the bus. The ride cost 1.70 pounds. It was nice getting on a bus where you don’t have to hold onto dear life. All the buses, by the way, don’t emit the pollution as Ecuadorian buses. This, of course, I already knew.
When we got to town we went into a lot of store. We thought we would be able to buy a digital camera there. There was only one shop that sold digital cameras but they didn’t sell the make that I wanted (Sony). I want to stick to the same kind as I have a battery that the thieves didn’t take.
It looks like we will have to wait until Monday and get it at Kinniminster. We stopped to have fish ‘n chips at a pub.
We didn’t have to wait long before our bus came, which was good.
We had a very nice day.
Britain’s Have Talent
In the evening we watched the finals Britain’s Have Talent. It was a good show. The whole world was probably watching or will read about it in the newspapers tomorrow. The winner was a dancing group called Diversity, with the runner-up being Susan Boyle who has an opera voice.
We had watched the semi-finals this week as it was on just about every day.
The dance group was very good but it’s not the dance routine that you would see of years ago. It was more fast movement accompanying to music.
The sad thing was that this group is not British by race as they all looked like mulattos. While Susan Boyle is British (being from Scotland). The show should be called Foreigner’s Have Talent, as I would say 4 or maybe 5 of the 10 people/groups who performed tonight were not Anglo-Saxons.
Such is the mind-set of the world today.
As for making a career with their talent, the dance group would not be able to do so as they had one act that lasted 2 minutes and it took all their energy to do it. While the singer could perform a operas and other events and do more than sing one song.
The winner will get 100,000 pounds (the group of about 10 will have to divide that money). Then they will perform in front of the Queen and the Royal Family. It is called something like The Royal Variety Act.
Of the other finalists where are not British is a group of dancers called Flawless. Then there was a father and son act that are Greek (however on the father’s chest is a tattoo of the outline of Cyprus. Maybe we’ll see them perform there). One guy who played the clarinet is mulatto. Another kid l saw that his mother is black (though he had light skin).
Well, we see Britain changing.

The Cave Houses
Thursday May 28
Jayne, Jack and I took a walk to the woods nearby. Jayne showed me where there is a cave where people used to live in. The first people that lived there were in the 1600s and the last were in the 1960s. It was a outcrop of sandstone where there were a couple of house there. These were not cavemen but people who lived in caves. However, it was not opened to the public. Hopefully, we’ll go back when the insdie is open.
I only wished I had bought a digital camera the last time we were in Kiddiminster.
Then we took a walk to Kinver. I changed some euros to pounds. Then I treated everyone to something to drink and a desert. Jayne and I had cappuccino and some whole grain cake.
Then we walked home.
It was real nice to walk in a quaint and clean village. This is something you’ll never see in Ecuador. It’s really great walking along clean streets without dog poop, broken bottles, trash, and dogs barking. It was also really nice that you don’t smell polluted buses and people honking their horns every minute.

Andrew and Jack Came By
Wednesday May 27
About 5.45pm Andrew and his son, Jack, came over. This was the first time that they’ve seen Jayne since April of last year. It was good to see Andrew, and it was the first time i saw Jack. He is a friendly and intelligent child.
About 30 minutes later, Steve came. I didn’t expect him, but it was good that they are all here. I think it was before their father died that they were all together.
We all had dinner together. I wish I had bought a camera when I was at the store the other day. It would be good to get a picture of all the family. I hope I have another chance to do it before we leave.
Andrew said he would be back Friday evening to pick Jack up. I understand that the kids are out of school for this week for a holiday break.

A Trip to Town
Tuesday May 26
Jayne and I went to the big town that is closest from here. I think the name is Keddiminister. I drove Lil’s car. I asked if she wanted to come but she said no. I would have felt better if she came along as she knows the way. Instead she gave us directions. Her directions led up to most of the way there but she must have forgotten one turn.
We had a lot of things to do in town. First we had to get our money back from the juicer we bought as Jayne said that the basket doesn’t come off. So we don’t want something that you can clean, that’s for sure!
We came across a health food store where we bought some things. We looked for a sweater for me but found nothing.
We had coffee in Marks and Spencer, we got something to eat in a bakery (a potato sandwich and a vegetable sandwich and ate it out side.
We got back to the car we saw a notice on it that we were in a paid parking lot. It looks like we might get a ticket. Jayne didn’t see the sign and I didn’t. They did have a sign but we were so concerned about finding where the stores were and how to get there from where we parked.
It looks like Lil will get a ticket. Jayne will have to find out how much it is.
What I don’t like about the pay parking situation is, that unless you see the few scatter signs you would think you were in a public parking lot. After all, it was in front of a big store. The other stores around have a free parking lot. And there was no both as you entered to pay for the parking area we were in. There was no gate that control entrance. If they had that, people would see that it was a paid parking area.
When we left we were looking on how to get to the main road next to the parking lot. There was a one-way sign from this road. So, taking another road we could find how to get to the main one. As a result we didn’t know what direction were going in. Driving along, Jayne didn’t know what town was near where we needed to go. We simply got lost. So, retracing our route I stopped in a service state where we bought a map (Lil didn’t have one in the car). Then got on the road that leads to where we live.
I’d say we must have wasted at least one hour driving.
Finally, we got home safely. However, it was a stressful ride.

Long Summer Days
Sunday May 24
I awoke about 5.30am today, just like i did yesterday. Then I got up about 6.30am. The reason for this is because the sun is up already. Being in the far north during the summer the days are longer. I’m the kind of person that gets up with the sun. The last time this happened to me was when i was in Russia. Since then I lived in Cyprus and Ecuador. I Cyprus the summer days are a little longer and in Ecuador it’s the same all year round (sunrise about 6am and sunset about 6pm) because they are at the equator.
In England right now, it starts getting light about 4.30am. Actually, you can see some before then but at 4.30 it’s lighter. At 5.30am it’s really light.
I like the long days, but the flip side of it is the very short days during the winter. Since I’m here in the late spring, the longer days are nice.
When I lived in Moscow, the summer days were even longer. I remember the first time I woke up it was about 4.00am. I couldn’t believe it was light. At night the light lasted well past 11.00pm, you could still see the dark night sky near midnight.

Thoughts on England
Friday May 22
Jayne got up about 5am, and I got up about 8.15am. This is the first time that I experienced a long day light. Being in Ecuador the days and nights are the same length all year long because they are at the equator. It's starts getting dark about 6pm and light about 6am. Being in England, now, it's starting to get light about 4.15am and dark about about 9.30pm. The sun sets already but its still light. And it will get longer until June 21.
When I got up this morning to go to the bathroom it was about 4.15am and it was light.
Val came over about 9.30am to say that they are going to Kennelworth. This town has the computer stores and other shops that are cheaper and more variety. Val drove Lil's car and she pointed out where I turn so I can drive there myself.
We agreed to meet in two hours. Since it was about 10am, I noted that it would be about noon that we would meet. We went our own ways, whereas Jayne and I went to the shopping area where she went to the bank. While there I changed some euros so I could buy a computer.
We bought a cheap juicer to use while we are here. This cost 15 pounds. I hope it lasts as this is a cheap price.
Then we walked to some of the stores in the 'mall section' of town. The finaly stop was in PC World. I saw something there that I liked and Jayne saw something that she likes, too. She wants a small one but we both want a laptop.
Since we didn't have time to buy something as we were to meet the ladies at noon, we walked to the supermarket. They were not at the car, but they did put their packages inside. So, we went to the cafe in the supermarket. We went back to the car, got inside and waited for them. Finally, when they came, we asked if they had time if we went back to the computer store, which they did.
After waiting for someone to wait on us, I bought the computer that I'm typing this on. It's a Compaq Presario CQ60. It has 250GB of memory with 2GB of RAM, built-in webcam and microphone and a bunch of other stuff.
However, it comes with no programs to speak of. The microsoft program costs 100 pounds. However, I have a lot of programs on my external drive. I hope I'm able to transfer this to my computer as I had thousands of dollars worth of programs on my computer that was stolen (though I didn't have to pay for them).
This computer doesn't even come with Word, so I'm typing this on WordPad, which is the only word processing program that it comes with.
I wanted a computer that was lighter but that still has a DVD drive. I could have got a small one but I would have to have an external DVD drive.
Some observations of England
Thought this is not my first time in England, I would like to mention somethings that strike me strange. I know that England is famous for its narrow roads, but you’d t hink that they would widen the roads. They really like to drive down narrow roads and come close to moving and park cars. Well, the German in me says this is strange.
They would use the excuse that land is expensive here. Really! So it is in other countries in Europe and in the cities of the US, yet they have wide roads. Sure, I understand that you cannot or do not want to widen roads in ancient towns, but there is no excuse for doing so in the country.
But there is nothing to do but live with sideswipes, etc.
Another strange thing is, that Jayne told me today that Monday will be a bank holiday. All the banks will be closed. I asked what holiday it is and she said just a bank holiday. She said there is more than one in a year. I said, ‘’This is strange. Why have one business have a holiday? Holidays in the US and other countries are days where there is a big event in the history of the country or a religious holiday, like Christmas. If they want to be consistent, every business will want their holiday. There would be a holiday for supermarkets, for hardware stores, etc.’’
Jayne said that England is consider a dirty country in Europe. She pointed out some dirt that was on the edge of the sidewalk, mind you, on the edge where the dirt is, and she said you would not see this in Switzerland. I said that you’d think that the Swiss would find something better to do. They could make more Swiss chocolates or do work in the office. So, I think that the Swiss takes cleanness to an extreme. I think is England is clean enough, I like it. It’s cleaner than the US (because we have all these foreigners there). And there is no comparison to Ecuador. Ecuador being a very filthy country (where people live) but I realize that it’s not as filthy as most parts of India.
Anyhow, it’s a pleaser to walk down the street without stepping around dog poop, broken glass, trash and pee that some bum did on the city street corner. Also, to see walls without graffiti is a pleasure, too.
Another thing that enjoy is that the friendly people. People in the streets and in the stores are friendly. In fact, when we were in the supermarket, I asked Jayne if they have a cafe here. She didn’t know, so as we were turning our heads this way and that way, a gentleman in back of us over heard us and pointed to where it was. We thanked him.
You’ll never, never get this in Ecuador.
Like the experience I’ve got before when I left Russia and returned to the US and when I left Ecuador and returned to Cyprus, it’s such a good feeling to be where there is cleanliness, friendly people, and some kind of organization. It’s a good feeling you get emotionally. And this is what I got again when I returned to England.
