Friday May 15
At 11am we left for Quito. I exchanged dollars for euros. I got only 1 euro for each $1.35. I exchanged $700 and received 518 euros. I'll see how much I lost when I go to the Internet to see the rates.
We got to Matt and Amparo's home at 12.30pm. Matt didn't arrive until about 15 minutes later.
First we talked about business (the things I would like him to do after we move). We came to a agreement as to how much I should pay him. Then I gave him the cash.
Matt said he has a worker that he trusts, and suggested to him if he would like to stay at my house for one weekend a month. He said that his wife does the cleaning of the flats for him. He said that it will make the house look occupied. I agreed to this. His name is Hose.
We had a nice lunch with soup as starters. Then we had a shrimp dish with steamed broccoli, carrots and onions.
We talked the rest of the afternoon. He had invited us to stay the night, but we went home late in the afternoon. We don't like the idea that no one would be home after being robbed, plus we still have a lot of things to do before we fly out of here.
We said our goodbyes and left about 5.15pm. Amparo was shopping so we couldn't say goodbye to her.
We will miss them very much.
Matt bought paintings and gave her the money. These are the paintings that he said he would buy about two months ago. I told him what I would like to sell and Amparo said she would like the juicer and the blender. Jayne just charged him the cost of the canvas and paints. So, I don't know if he realizes that he got a good buy.
