Leaving Spain

Saturday July 25

Today is when we leave Spain. We went to get something to eat and a newspaper. When we got

back we started cleaning the flat. We thought we would have time to take a swim in the pool

but we didn’t.

It’s more work checking out of a flat that you own than a hotel as you have all the cleaning

and laundry to do.

Carol came over on time and took us to the airport.

There was a long line when we got there.

We left about 6pm and arrived about 2.5 hours later.

I filled out the form for non-EU members on the plain and went to passport control. I was

asked all kinds of question. True to its word the UK is a police state. I had put down on the

form my occupation and because of this, I was asked all kinds of questions around this. Such

questions were:

What do you do?
Where did you live before?
Where will you be going to after you leave here?
What work did you do in Ecuador?
What will you be doing in Cyprus?
Do you have a work permit there?

I told her that my work permit is in England as I didn’t bring it with me.

Had I known of all these communist-type questions, I would have put down that I’m retired.
She probably would have asked me where my money is invested and how do I get paid.

I noticed that she didn’t type this into a computer but that the questioning was just to see

how I respond and that I was telling the truth. In fact, I haven’t taught in years and that I

will not teach be teaching English (which is what I told her). I will be teaching in a way,

but not English, but an alternative health cure. And since this will be my own business, I

won’t need a work permit.

Shortly after questioning, Jayne was finished with her passport check (which was next to

where I was) and came over to see me. I told the woman that this is my wife.
Steve was in the parking lot to pick us up. We found out that he had the swine flu, or at

least that is what he thought it was. He said it was real bad.

When we got back we were up for awhile talking to Lil. However, Steven went home after he

dropped us off.

So, ends out trip to Spain.
