We went to Merry Hill to buy some things that we need for Spain. We bought a fan, as they are a lot more in Spain. But we couldn't
find a water filter to take - and this was in a big mall!
We went to Lloyd's Bank so I can cash a 100 euro note. There were different tellers there again. Also, different people at the help
desk. I went to a teller and gave her the money. She said she have to see if she could cash it. Again, the same old story!
The teller then went to see someone in the back room. I told her that it's illegal not to accept legal tender money. I told her that I
was here last week and they said it was no problem. This is euros, so we are not talking about some third world currency. She went to
the back room again. She finally changed my 100 euro note. She took down my I.D. info and had me sign a standard form which they have
here.
The thing is, that if I wasn't persistant, the bank would have me leave without changing it to pounds. Think of all the European
tourists here that need to change their euros!
I have another 100 euro note that I will take with me to Spain. Since Spain uses euros, I'll see if there are any problems with it,
and I'll write again about the results.
