Jayne's New Computer

Jayne and I went to Merry Hill so she could buy a computer.
Jayne bought a HP notebook Pavilion dv2-1030ea that is really nice, however it cost £599! It has an external DVD player (which was included).
Before the computer was bought I went to Lloyd's bank to change some money. I brought only 50 euros, but I wanted to ask about their policy about accepting 100, 200 and 500 notes. Here is what happened...
I know Lloyds gave me good bills, but it's trying to get others to accept them. but here is something interesting that happened to me concerning euros.
I went back to the same bank and asked if they take 100, 200, 500 notes. I had a different teller this time. he said he'd have to ask. well, a red light went off in me. normally, a bank will say yes, sure. but he had to ask three peope from what I saw - three! He went back and forth, back and forth. I told him what the bank is doing is illegal - they have to accept euros.
Now, I didn't have any on me, but I wanted to know the question. I said, look I just want to change 50s now, which he did. then he said for me to go to the desk. I did, and this girl had to go in the back room, too. I said that I was in the other week and I had one 100 note and she would not change it (to pounds). I guess because of my persistance the girl today said how much was it, and I said just a 200 and 500 (acutally i have no 200 or 500 but I'm trying to get to the bottom of this. She said, after her second visit to the back room that they WOULD as long as I don't have a lot.
Well, the amount never came up!!
She said that that was the reason the teller told me (the teller I saw today) didn't know because it was a lot. again, the amount was never a question.
A red flag went up. What she told me was BS. Jayne and I picked this up, too. What she was doing was waffling and covering up with what they done. as the teller never told me how much I had and I never told him, so it was not a question of it being a lot of money. Plus the fact that two weeks ago there was only one 100 note in question.
Our conculsion is this, and it's scary, that had I not persisted, they would have given me the run-around and said 'no'. They know what they are doing - and other places too - is illegal. Only then she said they'd change the euros. Keep in mind another business would not take them, also. This means that there is trouble changing HALF THE CURRENCY IN EUROS or spending them!!
In the evening Jayne hooked up her computer with my help. She also searched on how to get wireless, as Lil has it in her home. She came to me while I was on Lil's computer to say she's got Internet on her computer. I asked her if she could put this on mine, and she did. Now, we are both surfing on our own computers.
While at the computer store I saw something (I forgot the name of it) where you pay £100 and you can get wireless Internet anywhere. This is good for 12 months or 12 GB of info. I asked if this will work in Spain, and she said yes, but it will cost more - like using your cell phone from another country. So, I'll get one of these items when in Spain to have Internet in the flat.
Though where we'll be living in Spain is nice and modern tourist area, there are no Internet cafes. They are all in the hotels and in flats of people who want one. This will save agravation in getting someone to come out. The fact that we will only be there a month, it will not be worth the cost. So, I hope this 'Internet stick' will work. Otherwise, we will have to do what we did two years ago - go to Cartigania, which is about a 30 minute bus ride away.

Leaving Wales
Monday June 15
We got up at 6am, got ready and left at 7am. Lil did the driving for the first part of the trip.
Later we stopped in a village and had our breakfast at Morrison Cafeiteria. They had a good breakfast there.
Then I took over the driving and we stopped for gas.
Later, we stopped in a town (in England) called North Bridge. I was told it was a real old town. We walked around and I took some pictures. It's really nice. One part of the road went under an arch that was in a building. Continuing, there is the town hall which is in a building in the middle of the street. The road is along one side of it and underneigth is an arched walkway. The town hall was build in the 1600s, but there are other houses/stores that go back before than.
We arrived home about noon. That was 5 hours on the road.
I got on the Internet to see what emails I got. Mathieu and Richard wrote and responded to the euro email I sent. They both didn't know about the non-convertiablity of 100, 200 and 500 notes.

We had plans of leaving Wales today. Lil did some washing in the morning, which I thought should have been done the day before we leave. When this was finished she said she was tired and decided to leave tomorrow morning. She took a nap.
Around noon, Jayne and I took a walk to the beach. When we got back we got one large order of chips at the restaurant here. Then we went to the pub and ordered Guiness beer. Then we ate and drank in the patio there.
I hope we do get an early start tomorrow. They call for rain, but I hope it's not raining when we are driving back.

Out with Lil's Friends

Jayne and I went to Barmouth so I could go on the Internet at a cafe there. It was the same place I was at before. This time I bought my computer as I was told a laptop could be brought. The guy got me connected and I checked my emails. The speed was broadband and there was no extra charge for it (unlike Starbucks in Cyprus). We both had something to eat and drink there. Also, Jayne took a walk around town while I was on the Internet.
We went out to dinner this evening with Harold and Lil. We picked him up at 6.30pm and got to the restaurant in Barmouth about 7pm. There we met his son and wife, who live in the village. It was in a building that goes back to the 17th Century! It was very nice and cozy inside.
Jayne and I ordered the same thing, pawns for starters, and cod fish in a sauce with pawns on top. It came with peas, carrots and chips. It was all very good. I didn't have dessert but Jayne did. She had a peach in brandy. I had coffee with cream that came with a chocolate covered mint. During the meal we had red wine.
Lil and Harold paid for the bill, which was very nice of them.
We left there about 8.30pm

Trip to Snowdonia
Thursday June 11
Today Harold came and took us to Snowdonia, which is about 1.5 hours from here. It's the second tallest mountain in the UK. He said it's about 3,000 meters high. It was a beautiful drive there. The roads were narrow, of course, and a lot of it was bordered by stone walls. We saw a mountain with rodidendurms on it as well as seeing these beautiful purple flowers along the road.
There are many mountian climber that go up the rugged and steep side of the mountian. Then we stopped in the village closest to the mountain. I was told that a small train takes you to the top. We didn't go to the top, and I guess it's because no road goes to the top. We stoped in the village to have some coffee at a big cafe/tourist shop. The inside wasn't nice, as it was like one big open room.
Then we drove back. Near where we are staying we stoped at a restaurant/hotel to have lunch. I saw the prices up to £19, and even a baked potato was £5.75. That's high for England. I just had a side order of chips (£2.50), while everyone else had beef curry. I was told the curry was £9.95.
Lil paid for the meal, but that is too much to have someone else pay.
The restaurant sat on a hill that has a view of the camping park where we are staying. You can see the sand dunes, the sea and the land that cures around it. It was a beautiful view.
We got home about 2.15pm.
Later in the afternoon I had a sandwich.

Jayne and I went out about 11am to do some sightseeing. First, we went to Barmayth, where I changed some Euros. I gave them a 100 and a 50 bill and the woman didn't say anything, she just asked for my ID. I asked the woman where the Internet cafe is and she told me.
We went to the cafe, which is a real cafe. They only have one computer and someone was on it, but we didn't have to wait long. I was told that you can bring in your laptop. So, this is what I will do the next time. There was no additional charge for the Internet - just what you eat or drink. Jayne and I just had capuccino and a desert.
I got an email from Clive. It had been there since last week but I had not gone on this email site yesterday. The first one was about Peter and Ann saying that Derek didn't want to go to the hospital, and this was back in April. He looked so bad that Peter said he didn't think he would see him alive the next time - he was right.
The next email from Clive was that Derek died. He was in the Nicosia Hospital, so I guess he got transfered from the Limassol Hospital. He said that Jan and Diana will be helping Angela. I wrote back to him, of course.
Then we headed towards the other sites. We drove back past where the turn-off is to the camps. We came across a sign that said Harlech Castle. It's located in a quaint town of Harlech. The parking was £2 pounds and the entrance was £3.50 each. Then we walkd around town.
We ate in Harlech near the castle and had a meal. Jayne had raveli and I had the vegtable lazanya and we both had chips and peas with that. This, and one coffee came to £13 and some change.
Then we went to Branmayth to do some food shopping.
We got home about 4.30pm.
