My Mother Passed Away

Thursday February 18

My Mother, June Lee, died on this day but I didn’t know it until the next day. (I’ll write about it in Feb. 19th entry.)

Jayne wanted to buy some brushes for her painting and wanted me to go along. We went to the old section of Limassol where she found some brushes. On way back we stopped in a store and we each bought a pair of shoes. This was not planned but it turned out that way. They were made in Cyprus.

$250,000

Tuesday February 16

What I didn’t write was that I had a Buyer for my house. The correspondence went on for about 10 days, I guess. He said he would pay $179,000 for the house and the lot next to it. He is a businessman from Hong Kong and said he will have his stock broker send a check to my lawyer.
All of this was strange, but it was welcomed. He didn’t see the house except on the website. Then he sent the check.

To make a long story short, the check was for more than the house – $250,000 plus! But I was told by Maria that she can’t deposit for a couple of reasons. One is that the Buyer’s name has to be on the check; Two, that she does not have an account in the name that he wrote it to (it’s just a trade name). And three, that a contract has to be written with his name on it to make it all legal.

When I wrote back to this Chong Lin and told him why my lawyer couldn’t deposit the check, I didn’t receive an answer for a couple of days. When he did write back he said he sorry he was out of town. He said since that is the case, the deal is off.

I had my doubts about him awhile ago. No one buys a house sight unseen, then to put not only the full amount but more than the house is worth (which I told him). It was just a way of him to laundry money.

Carol's Birthday

Wednesday February 10

I sent an email to my aunt as it’s her birthday today. She’s 70 years old!! I sent her a birthday card, too.

Now I have a paid program of Word – finally! All the other times I’ve been using Open Office, which is free, but what I found out was it’s a very unstable program. Usually at least once a day it encounters an error and it closes down. Now, I should not have that problem.

My Chinese Buyer

Friday February 5

I haven't heard from Maria, so I called her. She said that she read my email. She also suggested that I give this man (Chong Lin) her email address. Maria said that the tax on taking money outside of the country is 2%. She told he how she would set it up if he sent money to my bank in Cyprus.

I will have to write back to Chong and tell him this, so it will save us money and to call Maria.
This is really amazing, as Chong is willing to pay a good price and he hasn't even seen the property. He said he is 100% interested in the property. He said that he would like to have a base in Ecuador to ship things to his American clients.

As soon as this guy expressed serious interest in the property, I thought of someone from Asia that has a lot of money. In fact, it is someone from Asia (the email address showed asia-mail.com).

Another strange thing is, that he is wants to send the money before he gets there and before he looks at the property. I do have to say that I do have 20 pictures and a lot of description on the site, so he might feels confident.

I do wish him a lot of success with living in the house, or if he is going to have his regional manager living there, that he and his family have a nice time there.

Of course, it could be that he, like many other rich Asians are flush with money and want to put it in tangible assets before it becomes worthless. Also, to put it in investment outside of his own country. How often does someone get a Buyer that's to buy a house without seeing it and in fact, sending the money before he arrives. In fact, he hasn't even said if he wants someone to pick him up at the airport or if he has his own plans.

Since I have two sites on Viviun.com (one for the house and one for the flat), I thought I'd offer one to Angela.

After is sold the flat, I used the other site for the lot next to my house. I forgot to offer it to Angela back then, but now I will.Angela had wanted to sell her house for over a year now. There are too many steps to get to her house so she wants something all on one floor. I called her and explained to her that I would put the pictures and text on it and manage it. I told her that I think I have my house sold, and that I already sold the flat. I said that this would not cost her anything. I said that I already paid for the site, which would be good for a couple more months.

Angela said that I could meet her after bowling on Monday. Jayne will be bowling with her and the girls. Then she will take us to her house and I can take the pictures and the information that goes with it. She said she'll offer us tea while we are there. I hope that she will be able to sell her house and get a good price to boot.

Possible Sale of My House

Tuesday February 2

I got an email from someone who is interested in my house. I would not normally write this down, but since I'm writing this a few days later, I entered this information here, as a note of when this viewer first contacted me.

Wednesday February 3

This viewer of my website said he is serious about buying my house. I told him about a piece of ground that is next door and that the total price is listed is $189,000.
He asked how much I would take for it, and I said, “What do you think is a fair price?” He came back and offered $179,000. I agreed to this, but that if we could split the closing costs.

This is a great offer!

Thursday February 4

The Buyer's name is Chong Lin. He told me that he owns a company that sells construction machinery and that he is located in Hong Kong. In our corresponding to him, he said that his stock broker from America sold some stock for him and he would like him to send the money to my lawyer. He asked for my lawyer's address, of which I gave him.

I sent an email to Maria regarding this.

First Client (no charge)

Sunday January 31

I met my first client today. He responded to my ad and his name is Leon. He has Multiple Sclerosis.

I gave him a free introduction to EFT, of which I spent a little over 1.5 hours. He's got a lot of other emotional problems, too. I found this out by questioning him when we got started.

I worked on his fear of being lonely and it did go down. I told him what to do when he goes home and I also told him the price. He said that seemed fair.

There is a Health Festival coming up in March in Paphos. I got information on that from the organizer. I plan to have a table there. A small table will cost 80 euros and a large one 120 eruos at this two-day event.

Out With Friends

Saturday January 30

Jayne and I went to Peter and Anne's flat at 7.00pm to meet them and the others. Joan, Jan and Angela arrived after we did. We had drinks then went out to the restaurant for dinner. We went to a place called Michael's.

At Michael's, we were told they have good food at a very reasonable price. And they did. Most of us had fish 'n chips and the fish was good. They have fixed 3 course menu, too, which is only 6.50 euros. This included a salad, main course and dessert.
The owner came with a brandy for all of us – free of charge.

Then we walked to Chasers where Katrina played. This was the first time I had seen her since I left Cyprus nearly three years ago. We kissed and huged. She kissed Jayne first, then me. She never met Jayne but she was told that I got married.

We had a great time dancing. Angela, Joan and Jan left early, but Peter and Anne wanted to stay and we stayed with them. We were having too much fun to leave early.
I took pictures of Katrina playing. I saw that she made some CDs with her music, so I bought one.

We got home about 1.00am.
