Possible Sale of My House

Tuesday February 2

I got an email from someone who is interested in my house. I would not normally write this down, but since I'm writing this a few days later, I entered this information here, as a note of when this viewer first contacted me.

Wednesday February 3

This viewer of my website said he is serious about buying my house. I told him about a piece of ground that is next door and that the total price is listed is $189,000.
He asked how much I would take for it, and I said, “What do you think is a fair price?” He came back and offered $179,000. I agreed to this, but that if we could split the closing costs.

This is a great offer!

Thursday February 4

The Buyer's name is Chong Lin. He told me that he owns a company that sells construction machinery and that he is located in Hong Kong. In our corresponding to him, he said that his stock broker from America sold some stock for him and he would like him to send the money to my lawyer. He asked for my lawyer's address, of which I gave him.

I sent an email to Maria regarding this.

Friday February 5

I haven't heard from Maria, so I called her. She said that she read my email. She also suggested that I give this man (Chong Lin) her email address. Maria said that the tax on taking money outside of the country is 2%. She told he how she would set it up if he sent money to my bank in Cyprus.

I will have to write back to Chong and tell him this, so it will save us money and to call Maria.

This is really amazing, as Chong is willing to pay a good price and he hasn't even seen the property. He said he is 100% interested in the property. He said that he would like to have a base in Ecuador to ship things to his American clients.

As soon as this guy expressed serious interest in the property, I thought of someone from Asia that has a lot of money. In fact, it is someone from Asia (the email address showed asia-mail.com).

Another strange thing is, that he is wants to send the money before he gets there and before he looks at the property. I do have to say that I do have 20 pictures and a lot of description on the site, so he might feels confident.

First Client (no charge)

Sunday January 31

I met my first client today. He responded to my ad and his name is Leon. He has Multiple Sclerosis.

I gave him a free introduction to EFT, of which I spent a little over 1.5 hours. He's got a lot of other emotional problems, too. I found this out by questioning him when we got started.

I worked on his fear of being lonely and it did go down. I told him what to do when he goes home and I also told him the price. He said that seemed fair.

There is a Health Festival coming up in March in Paphos. I got information on that from the organizer. I plan to have a table there. A small table will cost 80 euros and a large one 120 eruos at this two-day event.

Out With Friends

Saturday January 30

Jayne and I went to Peter and Anne's flat at 7.00pm to meet them and the others. Joan, Jan and Angela arrived after we did. We had drinks then went out to the restaurant for dinner. We went to a place called Michael's.

At Michael's, we were told they have good food at a very reasonable price. And they did. Most of us had fish 'n chips and the fish was good. They have fixed 3 course menu, too, which is only 6.50 euros. This included a salad, main course and dessert.
The owner came with a brandy for all of us – free of charge.

Then we walked to Chasers where Katrina played. This was the first time I had seen her since I left Cyprus nearly three years ago. We kissed and huged. She kissed Jayne first, then me. She never met Jayne but she was told that I got married.

We had a great time dancing. Angela, Joan and Jan left early, but Peter and Anne wanted to stay and we stayed with them. We were having too much fun to leave early.
I took pictures of Katrina playing. I saw that she made some CDs with her music, so I bought one.

We got home about 1.00am.

Money Transferred

Tuesday January 26

I got the money in my account from the sale of the apartment. I was pleasantly surprised, as Maria had written only yesterday that she sent the money and the bank told her I would receive it in 2-4 days. So in less than one day I got the money!

Wednesday January 27

Today my first ad appeared in Cyprus Mail in the classified section under Health. I will run for 5 weeks. The last week is free. The total cost was 64 euros and some change.

Thursday January 28

So far I haven't gotten one call from my ad.

Friday January 29

Again, still no calls from the ad. I do hope in time people will call. There are only a couple of ads under the Health section, so it's not because of competition. I used the wording that Gary Craig suggested that will pull in response.

Jan 19 - 25

Tuesday January 19

I went to down town Limassol to do some food shopping, while Jayne stayed home. She wanted to stay home in case the repairman comes.

Shortly after I got home, the repairman came. He finished most of the work.

Wednesday January 20 – 22

We did the final touches on straightening our our flat. We even got my things out of the suit cases and that I had when I was living in Cyprus a couple of years ago.

Saturday January 23

Yiannis came over for lunch. He was our first guest in our new flat. Jayne cooked fish, potatoes and salad. I also got Yiannis to take a picture of Jayne and I. We had a nice chat.

I got the DVD and the cable box to work, too. The cable TV only has a few channels as we don't have paid channels and don't plan to get any.

Sunday January 24

I got my VHS player out, too. Now we can see the old VHS tapes that I bought when I was here a couple of years ago. The player has not be used much. And the tapes are originals that I bougth from the video shop. Of course, they were on sales, as most VHS tapes are since no one is using that system now.

When we went to the British Legion Post last week, they have a library where you can take books out and they also have quite a collection of VHS tapes, too. The tapes have more interesting stories than the books. Now that I have my player, we'll be able to see them.

Monday January 25

The weather is still cloudy and chilly. One day last week we got a lot of rain the whole day, then another day we had a good bit of rain, too.

I went to Starbucks, as I have a couple of times already. I'm not going with my computer but just to read and write. The reason why I'm still going now and then is to hopefully meet John, the man who has successful internet websites. So far, I haven't seen him. He might not be back yet. Also, I'll have to go to the café in the afternoon, as that is when he might come.

I Got Internet!

Monday January 18

I was at Starbucks when the Cytanet man called to ask about the flat. As I left Starbucks I saw him in his car in front of the apartments.

Finally, I got connected. Hurray!!!

Now, I can do work from home, the connection would be faster, and I won't have to spend all that money.

I will go to Starbucks now and then to see people I know and to get out of the house, but it will be a lot less. The main person that I will be seeing will be John who has a successful internet business. He should be coming back from America soon and be telling about his cruise with other internet gurus and his travels in Florida.

The Repairman

Saturday January 16

The repairman was supposed to come today but he didn't. He didn't even call. What a way to run a business!

Sunday January 17

About noon the repairman showed up! He didn't even call and all he said was he was sorry that he didn't come. He didn't give an excuse. So, he worked one hour and said he had to return the shower curtain (as it was too small) and he had to get a step ladder to put the bulbs in. I told he he can stand on a chair, but that wouldn't d for him. He said he'd be back in a hour.

The repairman didn't come back in an hour – he didn't come back at all! Nor did he call.
What a crappy way to run a business. Actually, I guess he doesn't have a business because of this.

He did 'fix' the door. All he did was put oil in the metal that comes out of the door. I used 'fix' in quotes because I told him that if it's unlocked you still can't turn the knob from the outside. He told me it's a 'security feature'! I think that the people take this 'security feature' too far. What if you are in the hall talking to a friend and the wind closes the door. You are locked out! I hope he returns and can make the knob turn on the outside. I found out that you can turn the metal latch if you have the key, but the knob you can only push.

I had him buy about 10 bulbs and I said I would pay for it. He did bring them, but unless he asks for the money, I will not give it to him. If he does ask for the money, I will put this on the Owner's bill.I had thought about this after I told the repairman – why should I pay for the bulbs when the Owner should do so. It was the other Tenant that used the bulbs and not me. It only makes sense that, as a rule of doing good business, the Owner should replace all bad bulbs and have a couple in the cabinet for the new Tenants.
